Acupuncture
During Pregnancy
By Carola Stepper, RN, LAc
We have a general Acupuncture Practice with
a focus in Pain management. Acupuncture is safe during pregnancy,
there are only a few well known Acupuncture points we will
not use on pregnant women. We have sucessfully treated pregnant
women with migrianes and depression who couldn't take their
medications during pregnancy as well as pregnant women with
back, hip and neck and shoulder pain.
Acupuncture can also be helpful with naturally inducing labor
at full term when mom and baby are ready. It can help soften
the cervix and help with labor pains. Treatmens are helpful
just before or during labor.
The treatment style we use does not involve using local needles,
needles are placed mainly below elbows and knees. We offer
treatments in recliner chairs (early pregnancy) and side lying
on a massage table (late pregnancy).
